Gordan Kragić

President of the Student Council of the University of Zagreb (SZZG)

Gordan Kragić is President of the Student Council of the University of Zagreb (SZZG), the representative body of nearly 70,000 students at Croatia’s largest university. His work has focused on strengthening student representation and translating students’ needs into concrete university-wide initiatives.
During his work in the Student Council, Gordan has been particularly engaged in student welfare and living standards, including student housing, the quality of student dining, access to study spaces, transportation, student health and support for student-led projects. Under his leadership, the Student Council has also achieved significant financial growth, built on increased institutional trust in its work. This has
enabled record levels of funding for student organisations and projects through the Council’s annual funding calls, expanding both the number and scope of initiatives supported across the University. He was also the lead coordinator of UNIZG Ciklus, a university-wide initiative aimed at combating menstrual poverty by providing free menstrual products across University faculties and student residences. His current mandate continues to focus on improving everyday student life while strengthening cooperation between students, the University and public institutions.
Alongside his work in student representation, Gordan is a member of the Management Board of the Student Centre Zagreb and a graduate student of Chemistry at the University of Zagreb’s Faculty of Science, specialising in Analytical Chemistry and Biochemistry.
